The Day I Ran Two Miles

in Workouts

Oh hi. I told you this week is busy. We finally don’t have somewhere to be tonight and I am so thankful. I realize my loser status for being a homebody but whatevs. I like to do stuff on the weekends, not weekdays!

Anyways, meals have been wonky as well as working out. I haven’t been to the gym in a week (I miss it!) but I’ve still been running. In fact, yesterday in honor of National Running Day, I ran 2 miles per my training plan.

TWO MILES.

I realize this isn’t a big deal to probably 98% of you reading this, but this is monumental for me. I’ve never ran two consecutive miles in my life, let alone two miles period. The last time I ran a mile was when I was a freshman in high school and it was required in gym class. And I hated every second of it.

And here I am, running TWO WHOLE MILES yesterday by choice. Who am I?!

Clearly a different person than I was in high school because I hated fitness in general. That’s another story for another time though.

Back to the running two miles thang. I honestly thought I couldn’t do it. My run before this one was only running for 8 minutes straight and then walking. I thought it was impossible for me to transition from running for 8 minutes to 20, but I did it! At least I now know that I can run at least half of the upcoming 5K! Exciting stuff. Mostly for me, not for you :)

Anyways….

That’s pretty much all of the news. Last night a co-worker and I went to Ryan’s (and her fiance’s) baseball game.

Preppin’ for a home run. Not really, but close!

And of course  we talked wedding. Speaking of, I haven’t given a wedding update in a while. Maybe I’ll put together a big post covering all that you have missed. Don’t worry, it hasn’t been much. I’m hoping to knock out a lot of the smaller tasks this weekend (read: bridesmaid gifts, welcoming packages, names for tables, finalize centerpieces, look for hair styles, etc). Less than 3 months to go. GAH.

Okay, time for me to go. I need to not stare at a computer anymore. Toodles!

Question: What’s the furthest you have ran? I’m sure most of you have me beat! :)

Good for you! I remember my first 5k….it felt like forever to get to that point. I still haven’t made it past a 5k! My brain always wins over my body, and I end up stopping around 4 or 5 miles…just can’t get that runners high.

I’m in the same boat! It’s totally my brain over my body. I’m hoping it gets easier…

Holler! I still remember the day I ran 2 miles! It was because I ran into a guy I thought was hot while I was running and he told me he wouldn’t let me stop running until I hit 2 miles. I did it. I was tired and sore and looked like a hot mess but I did it. Years later I’m still SLOWLY adding on miles (up to 7 longest) but I won’t forget that one :)

Hey stumbled on your blog today and want to say congrats on the 2 miles! When are you running the 5k? I’m in the process of training for my first one in Sept, and I’m only up to a mile now [ahh!]. Anyway thats a great accomplishment, don’t belittle your milestone! :)
