About
Hi!

Welcome to Brittney Breathing! After reading healthy living blogs for over a year, I decided to launch Brittney Breathing in June 2011 to begin documenting my own life to inspire others to live a healthy life as well. Topics on my blog can range from easy recipes to my workouts to the random adventures I have!
Background
I was not the healthiest kid growing up. My family was definitely a “meat and potatoes” type of family with a sprinkling of vegetables. I never really had an interest in food or nutrition and I especially didn’t have any interest in fitness.
I did color guard all throughout high school (fall & winter) and unbeknownst to me, that kept me in really good shape. I never realized it kept me in shape until I went off to college and didn’t move my body at all (unless you count dancing at the bars…).
After graduating college I felt really lost in all aspects of my life. I didn’t like the job I had, I was separated from my family & friends and had no idea what I really wanted to do with my life. I somehow (and I really wish I could remember how) found healthy living blogs around 5 months after graduating. I had never read anything similar and was immediately intrigued. I quickly became obsessed with reading them and admired all of these women (and a few men!) who put their lives out there for everyone to read. All of them seemed so confident and comfortable with who they were and that made me want to strive for that kind of life.
In June 2010 I decided to bite the dust and begin my own blog. My journey to becoming fit didn’t really begin until January 2012. I started to try new classes at my local gym and quickly fell in love with working out. My newfound love of working out combined with my passion for cooking has led me to believe that being healthy doesn’t have to feel like a chore. It can be fun and delicious, you just have to get creative!
I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with my husband Ryan & dog Murphy. We moved here in January 2011 and though it has been hard being away from family and friends we are enjoying our time here.
I also began my training to become a Certified Health Coach in January 2012 with the school of Integrative Nutrition. You can view my health coaching website here as well as viewing a FAQ post if you are interested in becoming a IIN student.

Murphy is so cute! What kind is he?
Part lab & part coonhound. He’s a handful that’s for sure!
Thanks so much for sharing your story! I graduated from college around the same time as you, and definitely can relate to some of the things you went through. Around my last year of school I somehow stumbled across KERF and also became addicted to healthy living blogs, and last winter I finally decided to start one of my own. I’m looking forward to reading your posts!
Thanks for stopping by!
