Our weekends at home have been few and far between ever since we got back from our honeymoon. Though I love traveling and seeing friends, I’m excited to have the month of November at home so we can start really decorating our apartment and having a break from all of the running around.
Though we were at home this weekend, we still stayed relatively busy. Friday night, Alysha & Brenton came over for an “appetizer & dessert” night. To say I was excited would be an understatement. The menu for the night:
- Spinach hummus
- Kale chips
- Rolls
- Chorizo queso
- Jalapeno cheese dip (the favorite of the night!)
- Mini meatballs
- Peanut butter & chocolate fondue (what they contributed)
Quesooo. You can never go wrong with queso!
Jalapeno cream cheese dip. This dip is so ridiculously bad for you (and doesn’t look too appetizing either) but holy cow is it delicious. I kind of don’t want to tell you what all is in it though…
This meatball recipe came from Ryan’s mom (hi Carol!) and it is so simple. Let me know if you want the recipe!
Had to have something healthy, of course. I’m stilling wanting to make a salt and vinegar batch at some point.
Ryan also brought home RumChata. I had never heard of it, but Alysha had mentioned it to us before and said we had to try it. It’s an alcoholic drink that tastes like cinnamon toast crunch milk. Yes…a such thing exists. I’m not usually into dairy in my alcohol but whoasies this was gooood.
Cheers!
Everything was so good. I was way too stuffed after everything, I barely had room to eat dessert! It was fun to catch up and I think Alysha and I are going to plan a local blogger dinner sometime soon, how fun!

Saturday we ended up sleeping until 10am. Um, wow I can’t remember the last time I slept until 10! Apparently the sleep was much needed. We finally started organizing more of our apartment. Since we are dealing with a lot smaller space now, we have to be a bit more strategic with where we put things, especially in the kitchen. Slowly but surely it’s coming along.
We hit up the mall in the evening because I need some work clothes in a major way. Of course, I only found one shirt while Ryan found a lot more. Isn’t that how it always goes? I did however purchase these babies…
Cowgirl boots! I’m being a cowgirl for Halloween (how original) and I’ve always wanted a pair of cowgirl boots so what better time than now. I ended up snagging these for $60. So excited!
We hit up the grocery store to stock up on essentials as well as picking up ingredients for meals this week. It’s going to be a good week in the Lynn household…Ryan is making every dinner! It will feel weird to not come immediately home from the gym and start dinner but it will be a nice break
Speaking of meals, our meal plan for the week! Ryan still had me meal plan because he is horrible at coming up with ideas.
Meal Plan October 21-October 28
- Sunday: Chicken Tortilla Soup
- Monday: Chicken Pot Pie
- Tuesday: Leftovers
- Wednesday: Quiche
- Thursday: Party Mac & Cheese 0r leftovers (I made this only 2 weeks ago but it was so good I want to make it again!)
- Friday: Out of town
- Saturday: Out of town
Should be a good week of food!
Later fools.
Question: What’s your favorite appetizer? What are you being for Halloween?

Mmm, dinner looks great! Are your glasses from Crate and Barrel? They look like the ones I have!
Yes, they and I looove them!
Those boots are so cute! Where did you get them? I have some short cowboy boots but I would love some taller ones
BTW, I am still dying for the jalapeno cheese dip and meatball recipes
I think everyone would love them!
JCPenney…and I will write the recipes sometime this week
I want to learn how to cook, so so badly. All the stuff you make looks so good.
You can easily make anything I do! All I do is follow recipes. And you can always call, text, skype me in the middle of cooking too…
